Ketanji Brown Jackson becomes first Black woman on US top court

The U.S. Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court on 07-Apr-22, making history as the first Black female Supreme Court Justice.

Jackson will replace Justice Stephen Breyer when he retires this summer.

Judge Jackson was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Miami, Florida.

On February 25, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

On April 7, 2022, a bipartisan group of Senators confirmed Judge Jackson's nomination.

She began her legal career with three clerkships, including one with U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer.

she won the national oratory title at the National Catholic Forensic League championships in New Orleans.

In 1996, Brown married surgeon  Patrick Graves Jackson

Jackson was quoted as saying by news agency the New York Times.
